Faster Fitness and My Summer Vacation

This
summer I spent a week in the high mountains of Colorado at Steamboat rings. My
friends and I planned to "do it all" - hiking, rafting, and an
overnight pack trip. I felt fit and was confidently looking forward to taking
part in all the activities we had planned.
With
the low water level and very little current our whitewater trip turned 0 a
float trip involving lots of paddling. My friends were sneaking rests
and complaining, but I felt fine and just kept paddling.
Our
next adventure was the overnight pack trip. We enjoyed our overnight the high
country, crossing the Continental Divide the next day - about 6 hours in the
saddle each way. The downhill was steep and required lots of leg muscle.
We d a great time and I didn't have to take the ibuprofen I had brought along -- just case.
The thing I'm most proud of is our hike up Mt. Hahn.
I will admit we made use of the 4-wheel drive in the SUV to do most of the
climbing for us, but the last section was all human power. It was an uphill
climb over fist-size rocks with no distinct path to follow. I did not get
out of breath and my legs never once “spoke to me".
I should mention that
our condo required us to climb 4 standard flights of stairs to reach the front
door. This only brought us to the sleeping level - we still had another flight to climb to reach
our living space. My friends complained as they huffed and puffed up the
stairs, but I kept climbing and smiling.
We also did some exploring and walking at Rabbit Ears Pass
and spent some time hitting golf balls on the driving range.
I
have taken active vacations in the past and inevitably suffer from the usual
aches and pains and shortness of breath, but not this time. I felt
great, even at the higher elevations.
Thank
you Faster Fitness for giving me the confidence and ability to really enjoy my
summer vacation.
Looking
Good Feeling
Great
Faster
Fitness is more than "just" getting a good work out in 30 minutes 3
times a week.
It
is about looking good. .. It is about feeling great.. It is about improving the
quality of life... It is about confidence...
I
went from being a person who was embarrassed and afraid to try outdoor
activities to someone who really enjoys getting out and trying new things.
My
quality of life has improved tremendously during the time I've been at FF.
Climbing stairs is not something to be avoided -- No more getting out of
breath.
It’s
great knowing I can go from Concourse A to Concourse C at Hartsfield
International Airport and keep up with or even pass younger passengers, if I
have to.
